One of the stalwarts of the Clare Valley, established by Jane and Andrew Mitchell, producing long-lived Rieslings and Cabernet Sauvignons in classic regional style. The Range now includes very creditable Semillon, Grenache and Shiraz. A Lovely old stone apple shed provides the cellar door and upper section of the upgraded winery. Children Angus and Edwina are now working in the business, heralding generational changes. Over the years the Mitchells have established or acquired 75ha of vineyards on four excellent sites, some vines over 50years old; all are managed organically, with the use of biodynamic composts for over a decade.

Peppertree Vineyard Clare Valley Shiraz 2008

Bright purple-crimson hue; dry-grown, hand-picked estate grapes have produced a lovely wine, supple and smooth in the mouth, with vibrant cherry and plum fruit, good oak and sweet tannins. The best Peppertree Vineyard Shiraz to date.

Developed red colour, entirely appropriate; has thrived during the 8 years since vintage, with abundant blackberry and licorice fruit, quality oak, and a long, balanced palate that has fused fruit, oak and tannins into a harmonious whole.

Watervale Riesling 2010

Bright green-straw; the fragrant/flowery bouquet leads into a crisp, relatively firm, palate; has all the minerally structure one could wish for, with lime fruit at its core.
