MITCHELL WINES

-

Jane and Andrew Mitchell established the winery in 1975 on the Mitchell family property in the western hills of the Clare Valley in South Australia. An old sandstone apple store was converted to serve as a rustic cellar door sales area. Continued growth has resulted in further development of the winery buildings and winemaking plant.

Currently some 500–700 tonnes of premium fruit is crushed and processed in a well equipped modern winery. The imposing two-storey century-old family home sits amid the vineyards, overlooking the winery.

Starting in pictueresque Clare, the Clare Valley Cheese and Wine Trail offers a progressive picnic matching some of South Australia's finest artisan made cheeses with wines from some of the region's best wineries. The trail highlights four Clare Valley Wineries,

Patrons collect their hampers containing cheeses and accompaniments from:

Wild Saffron Main North Road, Clare

and head off for a 4 to 5 hour journey around the Valley.

Participants are recognised by the wineries and encouraged to bring their cheeses into the cellar door, consuming them with the appropriate wine, or any others that may take their fancy.

Showing bright in the glass with lingering full lime flavours finishing with crisp acid and freshness, this is a wine to be enjoyed or could still linger on for another 5 years.
